Potasse et Produits Chimiques Receives Level 2 of ISO 50001 Certification
Potasse et Produits Chimiques (PPC), an important energy consumer for its chlorine and potassium hydroxide manufacture by electrolysis was one of the first chemical companies to obtain level one of ISO 50001 certification in February 2014. PPC has continued its energy management program and has now received level 2 of the ISO 50001 certification. This is the reference for a systematic energy management saving and will not only generate significant savings on energy bills, but also promote good practices and behavior within the company.
This certification certainly brings PPC a methodology for substantial savings in energy consumption (electricity and gas). It will strive to move the company towards less energy-intensive processes and educate staff to develop good practices with respect to energy.
PPC has already demonstrated its ability to face challenges and adapt to its environment by embarking on the project to convert its mercury cell technology to the cleaner and less energy consuming membrane technology. PPC decided to comply with the European requirements of Best Available Technology well before the deadline announced for end of 2017.
