At the traditional Mannheim site, which is been in operation for 125 years, WeylChem GmbH is represented by two main business units: fine and synthesis chemicals.

 Since April 2002, the worldwide activities of WeylChem GmbH  (RÜTGERS Chemicals AG) in high-grade synthesis chemicals have been coordinated from Mannheim by the Fine Chemicals Division, formerly RÜTGERS Organics GmbH.

The WeylChem GmbH range of fine and speciality chemicals is used in pharmaceuticals, dyes and pigments, agrochemicals and cosmetics. 

Currently, over 60 standard products are available, chiefly heterocyclics and aromatic polycyclics. WeylChem GmbH can build on synthesis expertise developed over many years, especially in the field of pyridine chemicals. A rapidly growing sector is the custom synthesis of highly processed complex pharmaceutical intermediates. We number almost all the world's major pharmaceutical companies among our customers. The wide range of processes available allows multi-stage synthesis with virtually no restrictions.

WeylChem GmbH uses a modular system of chemical reactions including more than 50 reaction methods. Chlorination, oxidation, cyanization and alkylation all form part of our core competence. More recently, advanced enzymatic synthesis processes for chiral building blocks and reactions using precious metal catalysts to produce pure enantiomorphs have been added to the range of processes available. The customer can also call upon expertise in heterocyclic chemicals for the improvement and optimization of the required synthesis process. 

Recently, WeylChem GmbH commissioned a new multi-purpose plant with a total reactor volume of 48 m³ in Mannheim. This new plant, which mainly produces complex pharmaceutical intermediates, can work to the GMP quality standards required by the pharmaceutical industry for products which are near to the active ingredient. The plant also fully complies with the most stringent environmental standards.

In addition to fine and speciality chemicals, the product range is rounded off by a number of pharmaceutical ingredients marketed by CF Aubing Pharmaceuticals.
