Grignard reagents are used as versatile chemical tools for C-C coupling during  synthesis of Live Science or Electronic Molecules. The Grignard Reaction is the addition of an organomagnesium halid (Grignard Reagent) to an elektrophile, in this example the electrophile is a ketone, aldehydes, nitriles or even carbon dioxide react accordingly.

Furthermore, Elgin site uses Grignard or similar coupling methods for manufacturing of multistep intermediates. Development Products
A variety of solvents can be used besides THF, including Toluene, nButyl Ether, Butyl Diglyme and THF/Toluene mixtures. These have been evaluated in lab scale but have not yet been produced in the plant. Other products not in this list can be evaluated for commercial production.
