WeylChem, Mannheim

WeylChem GmbH has almost 130 years of experience in organic chemistry and uses a modular system of chemical reactions including more than 50 reaction types. Core technologies are enzymatic reduction, cyanation, PD-catalysed Carbonylation as you can find in our product list. The wide range of processes available allows multi-stage synthesis.

Furthermore we are continuously looking for and implementing new and novel technologies and hardware respectively in order to satisfy our customers demand for more faster, economic and more efficient processes. Since 2002 we are running a tube reactor for continuous cyanation and newest endeavours are verifying the use of microreactors for various projects.

WeylChem GmbH is running two multi-purpose plant with a total reactor volume of about 130 m³ the plants also fully complies with the most stringent environmental standards.

WeylChem Frankfurt, WeylChem US

WeylChem was established as the brand name to market advanced building blocks and actives for the agrochemical industry, non-cGMP line products and intermediates for the pharmaceutical industry as well as products for various other fine chemicals markets such as polymers, paper and photographic chemicals.

These markets are served by production units in Griesheim/Höchst (Germany) and Elgin, SC (USA). A wide range of technologies is handled, allowing us to flexibly develop and install products whose synthesis involves various and complex reaction pathways.

Individual sites have established core technologies such as fluorination, oxidation, diazotation, exchange reactions (Griesheim/Höchst), Grignard chemistry and Ullmann coupling (Elgin). In addition, all sites apply a variety of support reactions, creating an opportunity to flexibly allocate production to sites meeting both technology and customer requirements.

As custom manufacturing is the core of our activities, we have management structures in place which guarantee the safeguarding of intellectual property and confidentiality.

PPC Thann, France

Potasse et Produits Chimiques SAS (PPC) is a combined research and production center. Since it was opened back in 1808, the Thannfacility has assumed a prominent place in the history of the French chemicals industry.

Located in the eastern part of France, on the Swiss-German border, the leading lights of industrial chemistry and research have been associated with its success.

PPC’s two divisions supply a range of specialty products:

  • The Fine Chemicals division specializes in synthesizing organic compounds.
  • The Potassium and Chlorine Chemicals division is a highly reputed producer of potassium derivatives.

PPC launched its industrial activities by developing potassium and chlorine derivates and rapidly became a leading producer of hydrobromic acid, mineral bromides and organic bromides.

Miteni, Italy

Miteni is a well established player in fluorine chemicals for more than 40 years.

It has developed three fluorination technologies at our site in Trissino. Halogen exchange has been developed for the production of benzotrifluorides. Diazotization has been used for the manufacture of fluoroaromatics and it is based on the Schiemann reaction. Electrochemical Fluorination, an electrolytic process run in anhydrous hydrofluoric acid, has been developed to prepare perfluorinated products.

Over the years, additional chemical reactions have been introduced. To name a few: nitration, photochlorination, ring chlorination, bromination, hydrogenation, Grignard reactions.

These technologies are subject to an ongoing process of optimization and innovation, to keep pace with the specific requirements of our customers.

Miteni is based in Northern Italy, in the heart of Europe. The company's strength is its extraordinary flexibility, particularly the capacity to adjust production schedules and volumes to accommodate the increasingly complex needs of our customers. Flexibility permeates every aspect of our organization.

Miteni serves different markets: agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals and performance products. The latter represents a steadily growing percentage of our portfolio. These products find application as polymer processing aids, paint additives, and building blocks for surface treatment chemicals.
